Asus M2n68 Am Plus Manual
Hello everyone,
I have this old PC, dating back to 06/07 (can't even remember anymore)
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 4000+
GPU: nVidia 9800GT 512MB
MB: Asus M2N68-AM Plus
RAM: 4GB 6400
Now, I don't want to make the same mistake as with this one - buying new rig just as new generation of DDR3 and DX11 arrived, so I thought upgrade could keep it relevant for at least a year, before going all out for DX12-i7-DDR4
Best CPU possible, decent GPU and another 4GB or RAM should do. As long as I'm not upgrading MB - it's just an upgrade.
So I got this cheap GTX560Ti, but CPU is bothering me a lot.
It says AM2/AM2+/AM3, supporting even Phenom II, up to 1065T, but no 1055T or any other 125W cpu.
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M2N68AM_PLUS/HelpDesk_CPU/
Now there is even 95W version of 1055T,
and here it says it's supported
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/M2N68-AM_PLUS.html
So, do I play it safe and go for 45T or $1 more for 55T, both 95W.
However, there is the other thing - what's with HT1.0/2.0? Will that throttle my CPU that it's better to buy cheaper one that would be fully capable. Somwhere it says that my MB is only HT1.0, asus official says it's 2.0 also...
I'm really confused, not that tech savvy, please help? As long as I don't change MB, I consider it upgrade, otherwise it's complete new rig
And thank you a lot!
